💪 BMI & Calorie Calculator

Calculate BMI, BMR, TDEE, and other health metrics

What is BMI and Why Does It Matter?

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a widely used screening tool that estimates body fat based on your height and weight. While BMI doesn't directly measure body fat, it provides a quick assessment of whether your weight is in a healthy range for your height. This calculator also provides additional valuable health metrics including Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE).

Understanding Your Results

  • BMI Categories: Underweight (<18.5), Normal (18.5-24.9), Overweight (25-29.9), Obese (≥30)
  • BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate): The number of calories your body burns at rest to maintain basic functions like breathing and circulation
  • TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure): Your total daily calorie burn including all activities, calculated by multiplying BMR by your activity level

When to Use This Calculator

Use this calculator to:

  • Assess your current weight status and health risk factors
  • Determine your daily calorie needs for weight maintenance, loss, or gain
  • Plan your nutrition and fitness goals based on accurate metabolic data
  • Track changes in your body composition over time

Important Notes

BMI Limitations: BMI doesn't account for muscle mass, bone density, or fat distribution. Athletes with high muscle mass may have a higher BMI despite being healthy. For a complete health assessment, consider combining BMI with body fat percentage measurements and consulting with healthcare professionals.

Activity Levels: Be honest about your activity level to get accurate TDEE calculations. Sedentary means little to no exercise, while extremely active includes intense daily exercise or physical labor.
